AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Mary Michael Hoctor Cox, 94, entered into rest Sunday, October 8, 2006 at St. Joseph Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2006 in the chapel of Rowland Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Burden officiating. Private burial will be held at Westover Memorial Park. Mrs. Cox was born in Columbia County of Irish decedents and lived almost her entire life in Augusta - Richmond County. For the last few years she had lived at National Healthcare in North Augusta. She was retired from Eisenhower Hospital at Fort Gordon after many years of service. She was a 40 year member of Pierce Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a very active member for many years. She devoted herself to her family and her church. Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her husband Marvin F. Cox, Sr., her parents James Michael Hoctor and Mary Frances Tompkins Hoctor, her sisters Elizabeth Hoctor Escaich and Agnes Hoctor Usry, and her grandson John Jacob Harley, Jr. Survivors include her 4 children Dorothy Cox Boswell, Mary Ann Walling, both of North Augusta, Sharon Cox - Harley, of Augusta, and Marvin F. Cox, Jr., of Lincolnton; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Rowland Funeral Home, Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association 1899 Central Ave. Augusta, GA 30904.
