Mary Frances (MacDonald) Devine 1921 - 2015CONCORD - Mary Frances (MacDonald) Devine, 93, of Concord, NH, died January 6, 2015, after a period of failing health.Born in Manchester, NH on April 27, 1921, she was the daughter of Alexander T. and Bridget Elizabeth Josephine (Gannon) MacDonald. Mary graduated from Saint Joseph High School for Girls. She earned a bachelor of science degree in business and education from Mount St. Mary College. In her early years, she worked at Varick's Department Store. Later, Mary was a substitute teacher in public and parochial schools throughout the Manchester area. Afterwards, she was a teacher at St. Joseph High School for Girls, Immaculata High School, and the Manchester Adult Education Program. She was also a foster grandparent at Rumford School, Concord, NH.A loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, her family was the center of her life. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael E. Devine. She was also predeceased by her sister, Irene; her brother, Arthur and his wife, Christine (Johnson) McDonald; two nephews, John J. McDonald, and William A. McDonald; a niece, Sr. Jane McDonald, CSC. Family members include her daughter, Patricia M. Ngara; three granddaughters, Jane S. Pearson, and her husband, John Vincent, Patricia N. Ngara, and Annemarie N. Ngara and her husband, Matthew Carlson; four grandsons, Haskew, Samuel, John, and Hugo; several nieces and nephews and their families, including Cheryl McDonald and Thomas K. McDonald. Calling hours are Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union Street, corner of Concord Street, Manchester, NH.
