Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie Beth" Jones was born Dec. 24, 1931, in Panama City, Fla., to the late William James Sr. and Louise Clemmons Johnson. Mary peacefully departed this life Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, at Bay Medical Center, surrounded by her loved ones. Mary, affectionately known as "Lizzie Beth," attended Bay County public schools. She worked in the domestic field for many years, taking great pride in her work and doing it to perfection. She had a passion for her family, hot fried fish and a whole cake of cornbread. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Mr. Robert Lee Williams of Tampa, Fla., Mr. James Porter of Panama City, Fla., and Mr. Percy Jones of Alton, Ill.; her parents, Mr. William James Sr. and Mrs. Louise Clemmons Johnson; her brother, Mr. William James Johnson Jr.; her nephew, Samuel Smith; and her niece, Nakisha Nicole Smith. She leaves to cherish her memory six sisters, Laurie Mae Smith, Nettie Mae Brown, Bonita White, Doris Mannings, Gloria Jean Snead and Betty Jean Miller, all of Panama City, Fla.; four brothers, George W. Johnson, Lewis C. Johnson (Jackie), Clarence Johnson and Charles E. Johnson (Mattie), all of Panama City, Fla.; special cousins, Bernice Wilson of Panama City, Fla., Leroy, Barbara Jean, Letha, Ethel Mae, Odessa, Yvonne, Emma, Shirley, Willie C. and Eugene Clemmons, all of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; 39 nieces and nephews; 88 great-nieces and nephews; and a host of great-great-nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Thank you to all of her caregivers at Panama City Nursing Home. A very special thank you to Paula "Moon Pie," Jackie Pruitt, Brenda Oliver, Dr. Misal Khan and the staff of Bay Medical Center's Medical Intensive Care Unit. Funeral services for Mrs. Jones will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 3517 E. Second St., with the Rev. E.L. Smith officiating. The body will lie in state from noon Saturday until time for services. Interment will be held at Hillside Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the services at Joe Moody Park, 2300 E.
