DEVINE Marie B., 92, of Mountaintop, PA, passed away October 13, 2011 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. She was born May 18, 1919, in Walden, NY, and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine Borrelli. She moved with her family to Waldwick, NJ, in October 1935, and was graduated from Ramsey High School, Ramsey, NJ, in June 1936. She was married to Edgar F. Devine on August 18, 1946 in St. Luke's Church, Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ. Prior to her marriage, she was employed as credit office manager at Meyer Bros. Department Store in Paterson, NJ. Marie was a parishioner of St. Luke's Church for 65 years and did a lot of volunteer work. In the early 1960's, she was parish volunteer secretary for the Newark Development Fund Drive through which Bergen Catholic High School, Paramus Catholic and Immaculate Heart Academy were opened in Bergen County. She was employed by St. Luke's Church as secretary for 20 years until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of St. Luke's Home and School Executive Board for many years and was a current member and past president of St. Luke's Rosary Society. Marie was a volunteer and member of the Waldwick Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary of Ridgewood, NJ.Marie and her husband, Edgar, bought the house next to their daughter and moved to Mountaintop, PA, on Sept. 1, 2001. Marie and Edgar were parishioners of St. Jude's Church in Mountaintop. Marie was also a member of St. Jude's Rosary Society and the Thursday Morning Scripture Study Group. She had also been a member of the Mountaintop Social Club.Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Edgar, on May 8, 2004; brothers, Neal and Joseph Borrelli; and sister-in-law, Constance Borrelli. Surviving are her children Edgar and his wife, Saundra, West Orange, NJ; Claire Thonus and her husband, Steve, Mountaintop, PA; and John and his wife, Mary, Ramsey, NJ; grandchildren William Devine, West Orange, NJ; Matthew and Laura Thonus, Mountaintop, PA; Michael Thonus, San Francisco; Christopher and Adam DelVecchio, Ramsey, NJ; sister-in-law Josephine Borrelli, Pompton Plains, NJ, and several nieces and nephews.A funeral mass will be held on Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, in St. Luke's Church, Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ at 10 AM with interment in St. Luke's Cemetery.
