MARY ELIZABETH BURGESS Mary Elizabeth Burgess (Gingara) born on 24 June, 1917 and passed away on 31 March, 2010 at Central Haven Lodge, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She is survived by sisters Ann and Pauline; brother Paul (Helen); son Walter (Sandra); three grandchildren, Eric (Anjana), Ian (Megan), Gordon (and his mother Joan); great-grandson, Chethan, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband Peter, son Norman, five brothers and one sister. She married Peter Burgess and took on the role of a rural housewife in the Spiritwood area until they retired from farming and moved to Esterhazy where she worked in the local hospital. She retired early for medical reasons. When dad retired, they moved to Saskatoon. She enjoyed gardening for a short period until further medical complications arose and she was confined to a wheelchair. She grew up during the depression years and was deprived of the opportunity to complete her education. This disappointed her because she was very interested in mathematics. She took a very keen interest in the education of her sons and strongly supported their higher education. She remained very interested in family, friends and current affairs. The family would like to thank the Staff at Central Haven Home, Inc., and Dr. Bayly and colleagues for their wonderful care of Mom. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 5, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in The Chapel of Saskatoon Funeral Home, 338 4th Avenue North, Saskatoon. Condolences may be sent to mail@saskatoonfuneralhome.com Arrangements entrusted to SASKATOON FUNERAL HOME, 244-5577.
