Martha Nell 'Annie' Rains KingDecaturFuneral service for Martha Nell "Annie" Rains King, 88, will be Saturday, October 8, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Archie Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in the Roselawn Mausoleum. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.Mrs. King, who died Monday, October 3, 2011, at Huntsville Hospital, was born February 13, 1923, in Round Mountain, Alabama to Thomas Grady and Alma Bessie Lee Brown Rains. Mrs. King was an organizer and charter member of First Presbyterian Church in Albertville, Alabama in the 1950s and later became a member of First Presbyterian in Decatur when she moved here with her family in 1960. She loved to read and never missed completing her daily crossword puzzle. Her most cherished moments in life were always when she was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who always affectionately called her "Our Annie." Her sense of humor, quick wit, and love of storytelling will fill all of our hearts and memories forever. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 67 years, James A. "Gus" King; her brother, Melvin Rains; her sister, Geraldine King; and granddaughter, Allison Lauren King. Mrs. King is survived by her son, James Augustus King III (Sydney) of Decatur; daughter, Jamie King Heim (Bill) of Decatur; sister, Mary Adele "Tootsie" Darnell of Guntersville; grandchildren, William Aubrey Heim III of Decatur, James Matthew Heim (Taran) of Cullman, Jennifer King Wynn (Ken) of Decatur, James Augustus "Jake" King IV of Decatur; stepgrandchildren, Courtney Holland Camper (Cody) of Danville, Shelley Nicole Holland of Decatur, and Nicolas Robert Walker of Decatur; and great-grandchildren, Austin Matthew Heim, Kayla Nicole Wynn, and Hayden Eric Wynn.Pallbearers will be William Aubrey Heim III, James Matthew Heim, James Augustus "Jake" King IV, Austin Matthew Heim, Kenton Eric Wynn, Nicolas Robert "Nick" Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be her lifelong bridge cronies, Nancy Moss, Doris Sundback, Ann Thornhill, Shirley Coleman, Patt White, Juanita Dukes, Genie Foster, LaVerne Dollahite, Barbara Ellner, and Mary Ann Wolter.Our family wishes to offer out special thanks to the staff at Riverside Senior Living, the staff at Parkway Medical Center, and the staff at Huntsville Hospital for the kindness, compassion, and love you showed to "Our Annie."In lieu of flowers donations to Committee on Church Cooperation, Free Clinic, and Meals on Wheels.
