VOORHEESVILLE Martha D. Smith, 89, died Saturday, December 13, 2003 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. Martha was loving, loyal, gracious, thoughtful and persuasive. She made the most of each opportunity, even to purchasing and renovating a house at age 81 where she enjoyed entertaining people even into her later years. She was a sharp dresser and was always quick to notice and comment on what others were wearing. She worked in sales and public relations. She did volunteer work for many years. She also served at the Zion Episcopal Church in Douglastown, N.Y where she was awarded the Bishop's Cross for service. Most important, in her later years, she became very close to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in whom she expressed a complete trust and faith and in whom she sought daily in His Word. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia B. Rupprecht and her husband Georg of Voorheesville; four grandchildren, Erick Rupprecht and Christa Witherell, both of Wynantskill, N.Y., Katrina Gray of Winnemucca, Nev. and Gretchen Kleer of Clarksburg, W.Va.,; she is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Ann Kleer. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main St., Altamont, N.Y. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday from 12:30 p.m -1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Crestview Cemetery, Barnesville, Ohio.
