Memorial Mass for Marion T. Parker, 75, will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at the Church of the Epiphany, Port Orange, with Father Mark Waters as celebrant. Marion died peacefully at home surround-ed by her family. Her death followed a lengthy and courageous fight against lym phoma. She moved to Ormond Beach with her family in 1952. While in this area she led a varied and accomplished life. She was an avid nature lover and gardener. This avocation led her to become a nationally certified Masters Judge. Marion served on many committees and held several offices including secretary and past president of the Cherry Laurel Garden Club. She was a member of the Garden Council of the Halifax District, a Master Flower Show Judge of the Jacksonville Judges Council and an active member of the District 6 Judges Council. She was also a member of the Sierra Club, Audubon Society and the Nature Conservancy. Marion also had her private pilot license and enjoyed flying. Having left the area for a number of years, she returned to Port Orange four years ago from Fernandina Beach. She, along with Dr. Kathy Santi, was instrumental in starting a cancer support group in the Port Orange area. A great enjoyment for her was her family. Those that knew her were aware of how important her family was to her and were so amazed at her incredible strength and inner courage. Another of the many things Marion enjoyed was traveling. Her favorite location in the world was Murren, Switzerland, which will be her final resting place. Predeceased by her husband, Lou, and two sons, Randy and Ron Smith, she is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Brownfield, Port Orange, and Lynn M. Smith, Ormond Beach; her son, Richard Smith, Ormond Beach, and granddaughter, Alissa Bennett, Port Orange. She is also survived by her sister, Pat Baxter, New York, and brother, Charles Seidler, Connecticut, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, Marion requested memorial donations be made to either, Lymphoma Research Foundation, 111 Broadway, 19th Floor, New York NY 20006 or The Church of the Epiphany, 201 Lafayette St., Port Orange FL 32129 or Council of Garden Clubs of the Halifax District, 837 N. Oleander Ave., Daytona Beach FL 32118.
