Obituary of Marion-Ruth Williams


MARION GOW Marion Ruth Gow, 82, of International Falls, Mn., passed away Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, Mn. She was born July 16, 1923 in Winnipeg, Man. but moved to Fort Frances, Ont. at an early age, where she grew up and attended school. After high school, she worked at the Ontario & Minnesota paper mill in Fort Frances. Marion also worked at the Daily Journal as a proofreader in the early 1980s. On Sept. 20, 1952, the former Marion Ruth Williams was united in marriage to William Gow. They made their home in Fort Frances until 1965, when they moved to International Falls. She was an active member of Faith United Church of Christ, the Order of the Eastern Star, Circles of Support, and currently was president of the Aquilo League. She also had many hobbies, which included a love for golf and curling, playing bridge, and knitting. However, family time was by far her greatest love. She was predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Ruth (MacKlem) Williams; an infant son, James Frederick; and brother, Francis. Marion is survived by her husband, William Gow of International Falls, Mn.; son, Douglas (Nina) Gow of Roswell, Ga.; daughter, Janet (Ron) Bowman of International Falls, Mn.; and grandchildren Marie and Bill Gow, and Jacob, Rachel, and Ben Bowman. Also surviving are her sisters, Shirley (Walter) Avis of Fort Frances, Ont., and Dorothy Mitchell of Emo, Ont.; sister-in-law, Donna Williams; brother-in-law, Jack (Eve) Gow; as well many very special nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005 at 1 p.m. at the Faith United Church of Christ in International Falls. In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations would be preferred to the Faith United Church of Christ or the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be left at www.greenlarsen.com
