GILFORD ; Marion A. "Bama" (Swanson) Williams, 96, of 2600 Lakeshore Road, Lakeshore Park, Gilford, died early Sunday morning, Jan. 20, 2008, at the Golden View Health Care Center, Meredith. She was born Sept. 6, 1911, in Somerville, Mass., daughter of John O. and Margaret M. (Pringle) Swanson, she moved to Dorchester, Mass., at the age of 5 and she graduated from Dorchester High School. She was resident of Canton, Mass., since 1955 and had summered at Lakeshore Park, Gilford, for more than 70 years before moving there year-round in 2005. Marion was married in 1934 to Ralph William Williams and worked as his personal assistant, attending to all financial records and correspondence generated by his job as the noted Breck Girl artist.Marion loved regaling her family and friends with stories of being host to the contestants of the Jr. Miss America pageant each year and then watching Ralph create the portrait of the winner. She loved entertaining Ralph's clients and especially loved doing so at her favorite restaurant, "The 21 Club," in New York City. She also looked forward to their monthly visit to New York to help select the Breck Girl to be featured on the back covers of many popular magazines. An avid Boston Bruins fan, she also was a longtime season ticket-holder.She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph William Williams, in 1976, her son, Donald R. Williams of Gilford, in 1994, and by her brother, Ernie Swanson.She leaves her daughter-in-law, Carole (Legro) Williams of Gilford; granddaughter Faith A. Williams and her husband, James Panniello, of Rochester; grandson Jason S. Williams of Manchester; and great-grandchildren Franchesca Panniello and Camden Panniello of Rochester.There are no calling hours. Friends and relatives are invited to attend graveside services on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 1 p.m. in Blue Hills Cemetery, Braintree, Mass.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Health and Hospice, 780 N.
