Margaret Fordham O'Donnellof Willet, N.Y.Margaret Fordham O'Donnell, 75, of Willet, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2006, at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse. She was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Helen Fordham; a daughter, Patricia; and by one day, a good friend, Sister Maureen Burns. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Paul O'Donnell; her six children, John and Karen O'Donnell, New Milford, Conn., Dr. Mary O'Donnell, Ithaca, Anne and Gerard Davis, Newton, N.H., Kate and Tommy Hager, Binghamton, Michael and Kara O'Donnell, Dallas, Tex., Meg and Todd Birtch, Chenango Forks; eight grandchildren, Sara, Sean, Matthew and Chelsea O'Donnell, B.J. Davis, Maura and Erin Hager, Brigid Birtch; her brother, John and Kathleen Fordham, Hammondsport; a brother-in-law, Robert and Lonnell O'Donnell, Truxton; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Whitney Point. Margaret was a retired elementary teacher over a period of 40 years, working mostly in Whitney Point and Chenango Forks. She was a graduate of Whitney Point High School, Class of 1949, and SUNY Cortland in 1952, and a member of Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Div. 2. She lived in Whitney Point for most of her life, but greatly enjoyed her little house on Cincinnatus Lake for the past 13 years. She loved her family, her church, her Irish heritage, Caribbean cruises, cooking, baking, fishing, her career as an elementary school teacher, the monthly lunches with the retirees from Charlotte Kenyon, her reunions with the Class of '49, and working with the Hospitality Committee at St. Patrick's Church. She was a good woman, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, teacher, friend, and will be missed by many. The family would like to thank the staff at Lourdes, 3 Ross, and the doctors and nurses at Crouse ICU for their exceptional care and concern - it was greatly appreciated.A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Patrick's Church, Keibel Rd., Whitney Point, Saturday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Whitney Point. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Friday from 3-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Margaret's memory to the Hospitality Committee of St. Patrick's Church or Cortland-Chenango Rural Services in Cincinnatus.
