ELIZABETHTOWN - JONES, MARY JOSEPHINE, 86, died Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Hardin County, was a 75+ year member of Memorial United Methodist Church, and was a genealogist. She was a founding board member of the Hardin County History Museum and was the former editor of Bits and Pieces, a local history newsletter. She was a local historian and donated her energies to the study and preservation of the history in Hardin County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmund Irwin and Margaret Settle Richerson; and a sister, Margaret Settle Crafton. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, James Allison Jones; son, J.A. "Jay" Jones Jr. (Carolyn), of Lexington, KY; and one granddaughter, Jennifer L. Jones, of New York, NY. Funeral is 2 p.m. Friday at Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in E'town City Cemetery. Visitation: 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home and noon -2 p.m. Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Hardin County History Museum or Memorial United Methodist Church. Condolences may be expressed line at www.brownfunera.com
