MARGUERITE DIXON JONESFuneral Services for Mrs. Marguerite Dixon Jones will be held Friday, April 11, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. from Bumpers Funeral Home Chapel in York, AL with burial to follow at Friendship Baptist Cemetery in Pi-neapple, AL at 2:30 p.m.Rev. Grant McLain of York Baptist Church and Rev. Willie Crawford of Friendship Baptist Church will offici-ate.Mrs. Jones worked as a teacher in the Alabama Public School System for 25 years. During her teaching career, she was noted for her kind-ness toward her students, especial-ly the cheerleaders, as she served as their sponsor for many years. She retired in 1964 and was active in both civic and community ser-vice.Mrs. Jones is survived by her hus-band of 66 years, Sam Watts Jones. In addition, she is survived by her niece, Lib Hicks, and nephew, James Dixon, both of Dixon Mills, AL.Active Pallbearers will be friends of the family: Buddy McElroy, Bobby Dale Ezell, Sam Massingill, Carl McDonald, Ronnie Beard, Rhodes Taylor, Johnny Bell and John Ni-chols. Honorary Pallbearers will be the York Baptist Church Joy Sunday School Class and the cheerleaders she sponsored during her teaching career.Active Pallbearers in Pineapple will be Clyde Stanford, Melvin Stanford, Hal Grimes, Claude Ezell, William Norred, Wiley Stanford and Dr. Jimmy Faulkner.
