Lucille (Miller) (Leavitt) Taylor, of Easton, formerly of Bridgewater, died peacefully on Friday, Jan. 3, 2013. Born July 18, 1930, in Brockton, to the late Andrew and Helen (Wilbar) Miller she was raised in Easton. She was a 1948 graduate of Oliver Ames High School where she excelled in basketball and field hockey. Lucille attended Fitchburg State College before marriage and bringing up three sons. She moved to Whitman in 1964 and raised her family there. In 1976 Lucille moved to Bridgewater and resided there for many years in her log cabin on Flagg St. For the past three years Lucille resided in Easton at the Southeast Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center where she was lovingly cared for by the compassionate, caring staff of the home. She worked as an assistant teacher in the Whitman Schools and as a clerical worker at the Whitman Town Hall. Lucille was later employed as a traffic expeditor for several trucking companies and retired from Roadway Express in Avon. She was active for many years in her former church, The Evangelical Congregational Church of Easton. For the last several years she faithfully attended West Bridgewater Baptist Church. She was a past member of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her brother, John Miller Sr., of Easton and her sons, Dean Leavitt and his wife Denise, of Easton, Dana Leavitt of Olympia Wa., Vernon Leavitt and his wife Leslie, of Whitman. Also survived by her step-son, Robert Taylor, Jr., of Ca. and her step-daughter, Carla Gardiner and her husband, Rick, of Ga. Also survived by her nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews and several dear, close friends. She was predeceased by her brother Dr. Andrew Miller, Jr. and her former husbands, Bernard Leavitt and Robert Taylor Sr. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 7, from 3 - 8 pm.. in the Copeland-MacKinnon Funeral Home, 38 Center St., Easton. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the West Bridgewater Baptist Church, 83 N. Elm St., West Bridgewater, with burial to follow in Furnace Village Cemetery in Easton.
