TOMPKINS Lillian Valla Tompkins, age 71, of Milford, beloved wife of the late Kenneth R. Tompkins, died on Wednesday, January 15, 2003. Mrs. Tompkins was born in Bridgeport, on February 25, 1931, to the late Michael and Helen Plovish Valla, and was a Milford resident since 1951. She was vice president and trust officer at the former Connecticut National Bank and People’s Bank until her retirement in 1996. Lillian loved traveling, was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking and entertaining in her home. She was devoted to and was loved by the many young people she surrounded herself with. Survivors include her cousins, Patricia Baas and her husband, James, of California, Pauline Stanko of Ohio, John Stanko and his wife, Anne, of North Carolina, Thomas Stanko and his wife, Sharon, of Pennsylvania, Julie Frattini and Laura Muller and her husband, Michael, all of California; an aunt, Pauline Umberger and her husband, Claire, of Pennsylvania; and many dear friends. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Ann Church with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 300 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT.
