Lee-G. Smith, born in 1926, spouse of Lillian-Esther-Hinkley-Small Smith, son of Egbert and Estelle, died on May 8, 2012 at 85 years old. Please consult the obituary here:
DETROIT -- Lee G. Smith, 85, of Detroit, passed away May 8, 2012, at Togus. He was born in Manchester on Nov. 14, 1926, to Egbert and Estelle (Markle) Smith. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He retired in 1989 from Togus, where he worked as a nurse. Lee enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and watching wildlife. Lee was very involved in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Newport where he served as Sunday school superintendent and also was ward mission leader in Farmington. He is predeceased by his parents; his first wife, Lillian Esther Hinkley Small Smith; and brothers and sisters Clara Smith LeChance, Bessie Miller, Harris Percy Smith, Bertie Belle (Smith) Goodwin Gilman, Isaac Jay Smith and Maine Egbert Smith. Lee is survived by his wife, Olive (Virgin) Smith, of Detroit; his stepchildren, Gloria Snell, of Vassalboro, Karen Hoffman, of Brunswick, John Hoffman, of Bowdoin, Guy Jasmin, of Bowdoin, Arthur Jasmin, of Detroit, and Dana Jasmin, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; grandchildren David Collins, wife Kathy and family, of Ogden, Utah, Tim Collins, wife Shannon and family, of Farmingdale, Robert Collins, of Windsor, Debbie Cornish, husband Steve and family, of Lewiston, and Candy Roy and family, of Sabattus; siblings Donald Joseph Smith, Carrie Smith Berry and husband Curtis, all of Manchester, and Ernest Jerry Smith and wife Arlene, all of South China; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at LDS Chapel, 59 Libby Hill Road, Newport. Donations may be offered in lieu of flowers to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.Arrangements are under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.directcremationofmaine.com.
