KING-Helen Elizabeth Young Rychetnik King, 79, of Hampton Bays, passed away on November 7, 2005. Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, June 1, 1926, she moved with her family to Hampton Bays during the Depression. King graduated, as Salutatorian, from Hampton Bays High School in 1943 and described in her Senior Yearbook as being sophisticated, frank with her opinions, loved controversy, followed styles with enthusiasm, and was bound for success. The opinion penned in 1943 typified her life. King attended the Latin American Institute in NYC and the University of Newark. Although King lived most of her life in Hampton Bays, she also lived in Newark, New Mexico, Chicago, Oakland, and Florida. Upon her return to Eastern Long Island in 1951 with two children and a husband away in Korea, she found employment with the New York Telephone Company. In 1979, she became the first Woman Manager for New York Telephone. King actively served her community as President of the Hampton Bays School Board, Treasurer of the Riverhead Business and Professional Women's Club, and member of the Southampton Chamber of Commerce. She traveled the world visiting Europe, Asia, Australia, North Africa, and South America. Her daughter, Lorelei DiSogra of North Potomac, Maryland, and son, Bruce and daughter-in-law, Nancy King and grandchildren Bruce and Julia of Hampton Bays survive King. Her niece, Patty Pratt of Palm Coast, Florida, and nephew, Harry Young III of Sidney Center, New York, also survives King. King's husband Allan F. King and brother Harry Young Jr. predeceased her.
