Obituary of Katherine Murray


PERKINSVILLE - Katherine Murray, 73, died Aug. 1, 2010, at Cedar Hill Health Care in Windsor. She was born Aug. 28, 1936, in Springfield, the daughter of Uno and Julie (Cronin) Johnson. She was a graduate of Springfield High School. On April 29, 1961, she married Kenneth E. Murray in Springfield. He predeceased her on March 11, 2010. Mrs. Murray was a secretary for many years at Park Street School, Ascutney Middle School, and worked in law offices in Keene, N.H., and Springfield. She also worked as a teller in Springfield area banks. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Springfield, the Catholic Daughters of America and taught religious education class at the church. Survivors include a son, Todd Murray of South Reading; a daughter, Michelle Bibens of Perkinsville; a brother, Rex Johnson of Baltimore, Md.; six grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield. The funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Peter Williams, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plain Cemetery in Perkinsville. Memorial contributions may be made to American Breast Cancer Foundation, 1220 B. East Joppa Road, Suite 332, Baltimore, MD 21286.
