Obituary of Katherine Marino


Katherine "Kate" Disano (nee Marino), 91, of Linden, N.J., formerly of Elizabeth, N.J. died Tuesday, March 8, 2011, in Center for Hope Hospice, Scotch Plains, N.J., surrounded by her loving family. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral from the Corsentino Home for Funerals, 620 Second Ave., corner of John Street, Elizabeth, N.J., on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at 8:15 a.m., thence to St. Anthony's R.C. Church in Elizabeth, where at 9:30 a.m. a Funeral Mass will be offered. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Entombment will be at Rosedale Cemetery in Linden, N.J. Mrs. Disano was born in Elizabeth, N.J., and lived all her life there until she moved to Linden 12 years ago. Katherine was a homemaker and a member of the Men's and Women's Retirement Club of Peterstown in Elizabeth. She was also a member of the Seniors of St. Anthony's Church and the St. Ann's Society of St. Anthony's Church and an original member and queen of the Columbus Parade Association of Union County 500. She also volunteered for many years at St. Anthony's bingo and was a member of St. Joseph's Guild. Katherine enjoyed cooking and giving parties for her family and she loved her bus rides to Atlantic City. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by her loving daughters, Lucille Disano, and Rosemarie and her husband, Joseph Raymond; dear brother, Gasper Marino; beloved niece, Lucille Disano; adoring grandchildren, Christine and David Hoh, Lauren Raymond and James Ciuba; three great-grandchildren, Kate Marie and Samantha Hoh and RoseAngeline Ciuba, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years, John (Smitty) Disano; her father and mother, Joseph and Maria Marino; her sister, Lillian Guarino and brothers, Joseph and Leonard Marino. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Center for Hope Hospice, 1900 Raritan Rd., Scotch Plains, N.J. 07076 in loving memory of Katherine Disano.
