BETHLEHEM -- Joseph O. Herbert, 81, of Profile Road, died April 22, 2009, at home after a long illness. He was born April 26, 1927, in Littleton, to Clayton E. and Amy E. (Morse) Herbert. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He received an honorary diploma from Littleton High School in 2002. He was a master plumber and owned and operated Herbert Plumbing and Heating for many years. Family members include his wife of 60 years, Edith Herbert of Bethlehem; five children, Shirley Austin of Litchfield, Donald Herbert of Topsham, Maine, Michael Herbert of Goffstown, Carol Herbert of Littleton, and Jim Herbert of Twin Mountain; two brothers, George Herbert and Clayton Herbert, both of Littleton; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. SERVICES: A graveside service is Monday at 1 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery, Franconia. Memorial donations may be made to the N.H. Disabled Veterans, 27 Lowell St., Manchester 03101.
