->AUGUSTA -- Joseph Chanel Percy Lajoie, 77, of Monroe Street died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008. He passed away peacefully at his home with his family at his side.He was born in Van Buren on Nov. 22, 1931, a son of the late Christopher and Alma (Dube) Lajoie.Mr. Lajoie served with distinction in the Korean War while in the Army.He was the owner operator of Lajoie's Auto Service in Augusta for 27 years. He had previously worked at Nichols Pontiac for 14 years. He was a master mechanic who specialized in transmissions and was sought out by many.Mr. Lajoie was very proud of his French heritage. He was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church and was a life member of Le Club Calumet, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans and the Elks Club of Augusta.He was predeceased by his loving wife, Jeannine (Labbe) Lajoie; and two brothers, Raymond and Armand Lajoie.Mr. Lajoie is survived by his son, Michael Lajoie and his wife, Louisa, of Pittston; his daughter, Dorothy Lovell and her husband, Paul, of Augusta; a brother, O'Neil Lajoie, of Augusta; two sisters, Aurora Hook, of Silver Spring, Md., and Arlene Hawkins, of Augusta; four grandchildren, Kimberly and Matthew Lajoie, and Cassie and Joselyn Ames; and several nieces and nephews.Visiting hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, where officers and members of Le Club Calumet are asked to meet at 6 p.m. to recite prayers for their departed member and officers and members of the Augusta Elks Lodge are asked to meet at 6:15 p.m. to recite prayers for their departed member. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Northern Avenue, Augusta. Burial and committal prayers will follow in the old Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta.Those who desire may make donations to Disabled American Veterans at Togus, P.O.
