John Patrick Conlon of Binghamton, NY John Patrick Conlon, 84, passed away peacefully at Willow Point Nursing Home on Wednesday, March 25, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Eleanor (Lyons) Conlon; daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen (Conlon) and Dale Tewksbury, Endicott, NY; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Vivienne Conlon, Shaker Heights, Ohio; three especially beloved grandchildren, Michael Whittemore, Terence Conlon and Rae Conlon; brother and sister-in-law, D. Edwin Lyons and Mary Lyons; and many nieces and nephews who were especially dear to him. John was especially proud of his service in the US Navy from 1943 - 1946. He retired from the Press and Sun Bulletin in 1988 after 25 years of service. He also worked as a bartender at Morey's Restaurant in Binghamton for over 25 years. John was a longtime member of St. Patrick's Church, Binghamton for over 40 years, where he served as an usher. The family would like to thank the staff at Willow Point Nursing Home and Lourdes Hospice for their compassionate care. Funeral services will be held at the Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 137 Robinson St., Binghamton, NY, Saturday at 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the Shea Funeral Home on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions to Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, 46 Oak St., Binghamton, NY 13905, in John Patrick Conlon's memory.
