Obituary of John-J. -Bilik Jr


HOPEWELL - John J. Bilik Jr., of Titusville, Hopewell Township, N.J., and Nantucket, Mass., born on April 9, 1946, in Mt. Pleasant, Pa., to the late Madeline Genevieve Konieczny and John Joseph Bilik Sr., passed away on Oct. 6, 2011, in Trenton, after a noble battle against cancer. He is survived by his devoted companion, Mary Jane Cooper; and his loving family, his daughter and son-in-law, Kristin and Anthony Pasculli of Hoboken; son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Deborah Bilik of Chesterfield; six grandchildren, Jack and Grace Bilik, Matteo and Brody Pasculli, and Henry and Keel Cooper; stepdaughter, Sara Cooper and her husband Michael Delehanty; stepson, Albert Cooper IV and his wife Martie; three sisters, Bernadette Bilik, Patricia and her husband Jerry Miele, and Andrea and her husband Dr. Walter Hoover; his uncle, Edward Bilik; his aunt, Sister Fabiola; niece, Jaclyn; and nephews, Nicholas and Aaron Adrian; and many Biliks, Grochalas, and countless friends. Mr. Bilik received a Bachelor of Science degree from Duquesne University where he was on the board of governors at Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, attended Duquesne University School of Law, and received a master's degree from Rider University. Mr. Bilik taught math at Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, Pa.; served in the U.S. Army (Military Police) being honorably discharged in 1970. He was an accomplished business administrator serving for four years as the director of Mercer Street Friends; for 15 years in various positions, including vice president at St. Francis Hospital; for eight years as senior vice president at Carrier Foundation in Belle Mead; and for the past eight years for the State of New Jersey, most recently as senior fiscal analyst in the Division of Child Behaviorial Health, Department of Children and Families.Mr. Bilik loved people of all ages and would take every opportunity to engage new acquaintances and old friends in conversation drawing them out to speak about themselves. Those who had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Bilik will remember him for his kind and gentle ways and his sense of humor. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Church, 343 S. Broad St., Trenton. Friends and relatives are invited to gather from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the M.
