->Williams, John H.April 25, 1931-Oct. 30, 2014John H. Williams, formerly of Larchmont, NY, died in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, on October 30 from complications of a stroke. Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA to William and Gwyneth Williams, he grew up in New Rochelle, where he graduated from Isaac Young HS. He next attended Wesleyan University and then pursued graduate studies at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, and later at Occidental College in California after serving in the Army. He moved to Larchmont in 1960 with wife Joan who predeceased him in 2000. John was a member of Larchmont Avenue Church, the Larchmont Fire Department Ambulance Protective Corps, the Lions and University Clubs of Larchmont. He was an avid golfer at Winged Foot Golf Club and tennis player at Orienta Beach Club. He retired as a senior partner at Coopers and Lybrand in 1989, after which he and Joan spent winters at Marco Island, FL. After Joan's death, he reconnected with friends in Winnipeg and spent many happy months there in recent years, playing golf and embracing the local sports of lawn bowling and curling. He is survived by Steven (Louise) and grandsons Peter and Jonathan, Richard (Diane), and David (Kim) and grandchildren Devon and Seth Williams. He is also survived by his loving partner Elaine Ryan of Winnipeg, and the extended Ryan family there. A memorial service will be held at the Larchmont Avenue Church on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 2 p.m. with a reception immediately following the service.
