John A. Clayton October 30, 1920 January 4, 2006 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John at the Wheatbelt Centennial Lodge in Rosetown, SK. John was born on the family farm near Harris and took his schooling at Silver Cloud, often confusing the teacher by changing clothes with his twin Robert at recesses. John joined the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII taking two months basic training in Saskatoon, then 3 months training at Esquimalt, BC. He was sent to Halifax, NS where he served 2.5 years on a Fairmile ML100 and was stationed in Bermuda for one winter. After the war John farmed section of land at Feudal for two years then in 1947 he attended carpenter school in Saskatoon becoming a journeyman carpenter. He worked at many places Harris, Delisle, Wilkie, Kerrobert, Watrous, Saskatoon, Regina and the Gardiner Dam. In BC he worked at Nanaimo, Vancouver, Ft. St. John, Ft. Nelson, Hudson Hope, WAC Bennett Dam and the Davies Keys Coppermine in the Rocky Mountains northwest of Fort Nelson. John also worked on the CPR Steamships out of Vancouver with brother Robert. In 1970 he bought his house in Harris from Ab Brown and has lived there since. John was predeceased by his father Reginald in 1943, and his mother Millie in 1953, twin brother Robert of Vancouver in 1999, brother Bill (Marg) of Saskatoon in 2004, and nephew Howard of Harris in 2001. John leaves to mourn his sister Florence Parker of Medicine Hat, AB and brother Tom (Mary Ellen) of Harris. Also seven nieces, Lynne, Lori, Nancy, Susan, Beverley, Patricia and Anne, and nephews Terry, David, Neil, Lloyd, and Stewart, as well as many cousins and friends. There will be no services at John's request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Rosetown Wheatbelt Centennial Lodge. Arrangements entrusted to Clements' Rosetown Funeral Home.
