STRICKLAND James R. Strickland (J.R.) departed this earth on October 12, 2006, following a brief illness. He was born in Savannah, GA on November 22, 1946, where he attended local schools and Armstrong College. He was a wonderful husband, father, son and friend and achieved many accomplishments during his life. He was a Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Savannah Council 631 and past president of the Florida Tackle & Gun Club. He loved to play golf, fish, and above all Bar-B-Que. He was the ultimate Georgia Bull Dawg fan and a Jaguars season ticket holder. He was predeceased by his father James R. Strickland Jr. and is survived by his wife Rachel, mother Azel Strickland of Savannah, daughter Therese Leibolds (Joe) of Dayton, Ohio, two step daughter, Rachel Welsh-Merritt (Mark) and Rebecca Meagher (Shawn) both of Jacksonville, FL a sister Janice Aiken (Carl) of Springfield, GA, brother Joe Strickland (Diane) of Richmond Hill, GA, three nephews and eight grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. Truly heaven is blessed by Richard's presence. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Monday at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home on San Jose Boulevard. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home, officiated by Reverend Daniel Cody.
