Obituary of James R. Fay


James R. Fay, 60, a Marlborough resident for the past 35 years, died Friday, March 5, 2010, at Marlborough Hospital. Born in Suffern, N.Y., he was the son of Doris (Botta) Fay, of Suffern, and the late Robert Fay, and the husband of Judy (Wight) Fay, of Marlborough. A graduate of Suffern High School, he graduated with a degree in civil engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, in 1971. While a student, he was a member of the ROTC program, the National Honor Society and TKE Fraternity. He had been employed as a structural engineer for the USAF, at Hanscom Field, Bedford, until his retirement in 2007. He was a member of A.S.C.E. and the First United Methodist Church, Marlborough. Besides his wife and his mother, he is survived by his daughters, Jessica Giambroni and her husband, Kevin, of Queensbury, N.Y., and Alyssa Fay, of Queensbury, N.Y.; his brother, Robert Fay of Chester, N.Y.; his sister, Virginia Pugliese of Suffern, N.Y.; and his grandsons, Nicholas and Christopher Giambroni, and William Fay. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 9, at 11 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church, Church Street, Marlborough. Burial will be held in Higgins Bay Cemetery, Piseco, N.Y. Visiting hours are Monday, March 8, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough. Donations may be made to the Piseco Fire and Ambulance, County Road 24, Piseco, NY.
