James-Edward McGee, spouse of Laura Luz, son of D-Arcy and Leona, father of Kai McGee, Pancho and Leslie, died. Please consult the obituary here:
Commander James E. McGee returned to Our Father in Heaven on July 31, 2009 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. He was surrounded by his wife of 46 years Laura Luz, member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, and their three children; Leslie Mathews (Greg), Pancho McGee (Stephanie) and Kai McGee Shepherd. James was comforted in spirit by the last rites of the Catholic faith, lovingly administered by the hospital chaplains. That plus the admirable care of nurses and doctors, made his transition into the next life a blessed event. He bravely fought all the odds, giving his family a big example of bravery and fortitude during his final days. James was preceded in death by his parents, D'Arcy and Leona McGee, his brother, Bob McGee and sister, Carol Langendorff. He is survived by five grandchildren; James McGee and Laura, Dale, Micah and Patrick Shepherd. Commander McGee proudly served his country in the Supply Corps of the U. S. Navy for 23 years. A resident of Niceville since 1984, he worked for Vitro Services Corporation for 10 years. A native of Appleton, Wis., Jim was a lifelong Packer fan who avidly followed all sports and who loved to travel with his family. His ashes will be inurned with full military honors at Barrancas National Cemetery on Monday, August 10 at 10:15 a.m. Harper Morris Memorial Chapel of Pensacola is in charge of funeral arrangements.
