James-Edward Davis, spouse of Athens-Regional-Medical Center, son of James-Isaac and Mary-Crawford, father of James Boyce, Anita Davis and Vivian Davis, died. Please consult the obituary here:
ATHENS, Ga. - James Edward Davis of Athens died at Athens Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, April 24. Mr. Davis, 70, was a retired sales management executive with the Panasonic Division of the Matsushita Electric Industrial Company who spent the majority of his working life in the information technology industry. Born in Macon, Ga., the son of the late James Isaac Davis and Mary Crawford Davis, Jim Davis was a graduate of Washington High School, Washington, Ga., where he was a class president and member of the baseball, basketball and track teams, as well as the chorus and quartet. Davis was as veteran of the United States Air Force and an alumnus of the University of Georgia College of Business. Jim Davis was a communicant of Emmanuel Episcopal Church and a member of the Citizens' Police Academy, Athens, Kiwanis Club, Athens Country Club, the Robert G. Stephens Friday Club and numerous other community organizations. Davis and his wife were avid volunteers with the Athens Regional Medical Center. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 48 years, Boyce Ficklen Davis; two daughters, Vivian Davis Eckman and Anita Davis Young; sons-in-law, Steven Raymond Eckman and Frederick William Young, II; a son, James Boyce Davis; a sister, Fran Davis Wells; two brothers, Donald Gary Davis and Claude-Leonard Davis; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 8 p.m. on Friday, April 27, at their home at 271 Moss Side Drive in Athens. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 28, at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Mediator in Washington. The Reverend John Via and the Reverend Mike McLemore are officiating. Hopkins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Church of the Mediator, Washington; Emmanuel Episcopal Church, or Athens Regional Medical Center, both of Athens, Georgia.
