September 4, 2008 James Davis, 75, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side. Born in Cross, SC, he resided in Syracuse for over 53 years. James retired from Oberdorfer Foundries after many years. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Julia Davis in 2005. James is survived by five daughters, Margie Jeannette Davis of Rocky Mount, NC, Peggy (Fred) Wheeler of Syracuse, Anne M. (James) Davis of NC, Sandra (Melvin) Davis of Syracuse and Evelyn Tillie Davis of Syracuse; one son, James (MaryAnn) Davis, Jr. of Syracuse; three sisters, Elizabeth Brown, Lillie Mae Simmons, Dorothy Hughee of SC; three stepsisters, Carolyn (Navrik) Bryan, Lillie Mae Durham, and Octavia McCarthy of Syracuse; two stepbrothers, Truman and Amos Johnson of South Carolina; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at noon on Thursday from Victory Temple, 213 Van Buren Street Syracuse, NY 13202. Burial will be in Onondaga Valley Cemetery. Calling Hours are 10 to noon Thursday in Victory Temple, 213 Van Buren Street Syracuse, NY 13202. In lieu of floral donations, contributions may be made to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave, Syracuse, NY, 13208 or Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North Street Liverpool, NY 13088.
