John J. Williams, age 92, of Daytona Beach, passed away peacefully August 2, 2010 at the Emory L Bennett State Veteran's Home. He was a World War II US Army veteran serving in North Africa and Italy. "JW" was born in Cambridge Mass and lived in the Boston Mass area until retiring in 1986 to Daytona Beach. He is survived by his daughter, Diana Karcher and her husband, Edward of Cohasset, Mass.; and his son, Jonathan Williams and his wife, Maida of Newton, Mass. He is also survived by five grandchildren and ten great-grand-children. Predeceased by his wife, Freida (Ullrich) Williams. He will be dearly missed by his many friends in the community and by his family. JW loved Daytona Beach with a passion, he was past president of the Sons of Beaches, an associate member of the Fraternal order of Police, officer of the VFW post 1590 of Daytona Beach, a member of the American Legion as well as a member of the Neighborhood watch association, the Historical society and Halifax audubon. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Friday, August 6, 2010 at 1pm at the VFW post 1590, 1013 Veterans Court, Daytona Beach. Donations can be made to the Emory L Bennett State Veteran's Home or to the charity of your choice.
