Howard McLean Bradenton, FLHoward McLean died suddenly in Bradenton, FL on July 29, 2013. Howie was the son of the late Ellen McLean and the late Howard C. McLean. He was the devoted husband to the late Shirley McLean and brother to the late Robert J. McLean. He is survived by his son, Mark of Bradenton, FL; his sister, Joyce Kellogg and her husband, David of North Andover, MA; his granddaughter, Ashley; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Born in Detroit, MI, Howie lived in the Schenectady area for most of his life graduating from Mont Pleasant High School, Hudson Valley Community College and Siena College. After his service in the US Army Reserve, he was employed by the Knolls Atomic Laboratory (KAPL) in Niskayuna before retiring to Bradenton, FL. In Bradenton, he managed the passenger security services at the Sarasota Airport becoming the on-site manager for the newly formed airport's Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Howie was always an avid golfer. A member of the Ballston Spa Country Club, he served on the board of directors and also as president of the club. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Luke's Church, 1241 State Street, 12 noon Monday, August 19, 2013. Calling hours will precede the Mass Monday, 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made to the Schenectady County SPCA.
