HOPEWELL - Helene A. Cooper, 86, of Titusville, died on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, at Buckingham Place in South Brunswick.Born in Cokesbury, Mrs. Cooper had been a Titusville resident since 1955. She served as secretary and registrar for the Hopewell Township Department of Health for 12 years before retiring in 1984. Earlier she had worked as a secretary for the State of New Jersey's Department of Corrections in psychiatric services, and as a legal secretary at the law office of Anthony M. Hauck in Clinton. Mrs. Cooper was an active member of the Titusville United Methodist Church. She was honored with a life membership for her service to the Union Fire Co. Auxiliary in Titusville.She was the wife of the late Harry J. Cooper, the daughter of the late J. Wilson Apgar and Jennie Suydam Apgar, and the sister of the late J. Wilson Apgar Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Linda L. Cooper and her partner Dan Loughner of Princeton; her son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Brian H. and Judy Cooper of Montgomery; her grandchildren, Christy Geraci of Arlington, Va., Gregory Geraci and his wife Anne of Cherry Hill, Valerie Geraci of Philadelphia, Matthew Cooper, Rachel Cooper and Mary Cate Cooper of Montgomery; her great-granddaughter, Lyra Geraci of Cherry Hill; and her sister, Eleanor Krause of Hillsborough.Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 8) at the Montgomery Evangelical Free Church, 246 Belle Mead-Griggstown Road, Belle Mead, NJ 08502. Calling hours are from 6 p.m. until the start of services Thursday at the church. Interment will be private.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Montgomery Evangelical Free Church, 246 Belle Mead-Griggstown Road, Belle Mead, NJ 08502, or to the charity of your choice.Arrangements are under the direction of the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, 21 York St., Lambertville, NJ 08530.
