Davis , Helen W. (Sawyer)Helen W. Davis (Sawyer) age 56 went to join the angels Monday June 25, 2012 when she passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital due to pneumonia and an extended illness. She was the eighth child born March 13, 1956 on of thirteen to the late, Arthur G. Sawyer Sr. & Alice J. (Monroe). She is also predeceased by six brothers, Arthur Jr., Ronnie, Tomas, Duane, Raymond, and George; and one sister, Patty. Helen was a long time resident of East Clinton St., Elmira, NY. She graduated Corning West High School in 1974. She worked fifteen years for P&C Foods Horseheads, NY. She loved music especially. Vintage country music. She also enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, word searches, and fill-it-ins. Since 1999 her favorite pass time was her grandchildren. She was survived by her husband of 38 years, John "Hap" Davis. Her daughter Crystal Davis VanEtten (Jason) of NJ; two grandchildren, Ashley Stewart and Zachary VanEtten of NJ; two brothers, Robert Sawyer of Lawrenceville, PA, and Ivan sawyer of Addison, NY; three sisters: Carolyn Dougherty of Pageland, SC, Rose Farnsworth of Elmira, NY, and Thelma Sawyer of Addison, NY; two sister-in-laws: Connie Sawyer of Lindley, NY, and Lois Sawyer of Eden, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial and Burial services will be announced by the family in the future.
