Obituary of Helen Romano


ROMANO Helen Romano, age 88, of Danbury, wife of the late Joseph Romano, passed away at Glen Hill/Harborside, on Wednesday, September 22, 2004. Helen was born in Peckville, Pa., on October 9, 1915, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Bezek) Verdock. Helen grew up in and attended school in Pennsylvania before settling in Danbury over 26 years ago. She had been a member of Sacred Heart Church in Danbury for many years. Helen is survived her four children, Josephine Santos of Bridgeport, Helen Devine of Danbury, Joseph Romano of Ansonia, and Elizabeth Barbera of Derby; a sister, Jean Zelasny of Keane, N.H.; 11 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Helen was predeceased by two brothers; one sister; and one grandson. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday,September 25, 2004, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Danbury at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery in Stratford, CT. Friends may call at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St. Danbury, CT on Friday evening from 5 to 8 pm. Helen‚s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the kind and giving staff that took such good care of their mom, at Glen Hill Harborside. Green Funeral Home, in Danbury, is in charge of arrangements
