Helen Pakenham, 59 Helen Irene Pakenham, 59, of Brockville, died in the Brockville General Hospital on December 7. She was born Helen Irene Walker on April 24, 1945 to parents Paul Herbert Walker and the former Irene Elizabeth McNish. She was raised and educated in Lyn and Brockville. She worked at Black and Decker on the assembly line beginning in 1969 until her retirement in 1986. She was also a companion to Mrs. Marie Robb. She enjoyed playing croquet, listening to country music, helping others and taking care of her cat, Queenie. She was also a member of the Salvation Army Church in Brockville. She is survived by ex-husbands James Gilmour and William Christopher Pakenham, and her three sons and two daughters, James Gilmour and friend Connie, Joseph Gilmour and friend Linde, Robert Gilmour and friend Melisa, Roxanne Gilmour and husband Donald, and Chrissy Pakenham, all of Brockville. Also surviving are her seven grandchildren, Donovan and Justin Coville, Melissa Cooper, Jessica and Domi Gilmour, Rebecca Gilmour and John Lowe. She is also survived by her parents Paul and Irene of Brockville and her three brothers and three sisters, Leonard and wife Mary of Athens, Carl and wife Sue of Brockville, Dale and wife Sue of Johnstown, Shirley Champagne of Brockville, Jo-ann Bow and husband Richard of Toledo, and Rosemary Fossile and husband Doug of Toledo. Mrs. Pakenham was predeceased by two brothers, David and Rodney Walker, two brothers-in-law Gord Champagne and Brian Harper and sister-in-law Cathy Walker. Friends called at the Barclay Funeral Home in Brockville where the funeral was held in the chapel December 9. Capt. Phyllis Plundel-Colbourne, of the Salvation Army, officiated. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Maitland, in the spring. The pallbearers were Mark Bell, Brian Serson, Dan Morris, Derek Harper, Chuck Harper and Mike Harper. Honorary pallbearers were James Gilmour and Keith Serson. Memorial donations were given to the Lung Association.
