Polk County SchoolsOCALA -- Mrs. Helen Walker of Ocala, formerly of Winter Haven, died of heart failure Monday (Jan. 5, 2004) at Alterra Sterling House in Ocala. She was 90.Born in Jacksonville, she lived in Winter Haven before moving to Ocala six months ago. She was a director of the Polk County schools lunch program and past president of the National School Food Service Association. She was past president of the PEO in Winter Haven. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Winter Haven and the Women's Association of First Presbyterian Church.Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin H. Walker. She is survived by her son, Norman Stewart, Greensboro, N.C.; daughter, Nancy Veley, Lake Placid; eight grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Winter Haven. Services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Jacksonville.
