Mrs. Gloria Parks (Glo) McKenna 88, devoted wife of the late Merrill Francis (Bud) McKenna, died June 14, 2010, at her home, surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. Born in Winthrop, she was the daughter of the late John James and Dorothy (Fenton) Parks. Gloria graduated from Winthrop High School in 1940. After graduation from high school she enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II and received her certificate in Nursing. She served at the Brooklyn Naval Hospital in New York. After receiving an honorable discharged from the Navy she attended Boston University and received her certificate degree in Physiotherapy. Gloria devoted her life in the care of people. All that met her loved her. She moved with her family to Hamilton in 1958 and enjoyed raising her boys in the community. She saw the best in everyone and welcomed them all in her home. Gloria enjoyed art, horticulture, vegetable gardening, cooking, boating, walks along the ocean and spending time with her boys and their families and all their friends. Surviving her are her five loving sons Michael Parks and James Paul and his wife Colleen all of New Hampshire, Scott Fenton of South Florida, Mark Jeffrey and his wife Edna and their son Mark Jr. of Rhode Island, and Gregory Francis and his wife Cheryl and their children Timothy and John of Hamilton; her late husbands twin Marion Agnes McKenna of Montpelier Vermont. Burial services were private at the graveside in Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Glorias memory to the Paralyzed Veterans Organization of America or the American Legion A.P.
