Packet, Gilbert R.1942 - 2014Gilbert Passed away peacefully at the age of 71 on May 4, 2014. Gilbert was born in Lafleche, Saskatchewan June 19, 1942. He was the youngest of five children. He attended Woodale country school; once he was done with school he helped with the family farm. Gilbert moved to Regina in 1967. From 1975 - 1987 he worked at McDonald's driving kids from school to work. After 12 years of working at McDonald's he quit due to health reasons. Gilbert enjoyed going for coffee and listening to country music, especially Johnny Cash, The Carlton Showband, and Don Messer. You could always get him to sing one of their songs because he knew them all by heart. He was a very special soul who will truly be missed by everyone who knew him. Gilbert is survived by one remaining brother Michel (Sheila) Packet, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father Cyril Packet, mother Agusta DeCap, brother Marcel Packet, sister Mary Andries, and sister Liz DeCap. A Graveside Service will be held Thursday May 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Lafleche Roman Catholic Cemetery, Lafleche, Saskatchewan. Gilbert's family would like to express their appreciation and thanks to the staff and residents of Regina Lutheran Care Home, where Gilbert enjoyed the past few years of his life.
