Mrs. Gertrude Robinson Horton - SAVANNAH - Mrs. Gertrude Robinson Horton, 70, entered eternal rest on Friday morning, January 29, 2010, at home surrounded by her loving family with the assistant of Hospice Savannah. The Savannah native attended the public schools of Chatham County. She was a faithful member of over 40 years of Rose of Sharon Baptist Church where she served on the Deaconess Board, Mother of the Church and sang in the Senior Choir. She was preceded in death by her husband Dea. Jack Horton, Jr., a daughter Louise Shirley Horton Mells, her parents Charles and Gertie Thomas Robinson Sr. ( her mother was a native of Pinpoint Community ) and three brothers, Nathaniel Murchison, David Robinson and Jobby Robinson. Survivors are seven daughters: Katie (James) Tandy, Sr., Jackie H. Grant, Clara H. Hodge (Eddie) Whitaker, Juanita H. (William)Owens, Dorothy H. (David L.) Campbell, Barbara H. (Robert) Small, Jr., and Malinda H. (Darrell) Shields, four sons: Robert (Linda) Robinson, Jerome (Deborah) Horton, Rev. John Timothy (Carolyn) Horton, Rev. Joey P. (Tonya) Horton, three grands she raised as her own, Adrian Johnson, Patrick Horton, Sr., and Tanika Horton; one sister, Hattie Lee Robinson; three brothers, Harold Robinson and Rev. Charles (Delores) Robinson, Jr. and Abe (Melodean) Coleman, twenty five grandchildren, 36 great grand children, a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
