KELLY, George Eugene Passed into the presence of his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ peacefully on December 2, 2010 at the age of eighty-four. Beloved husband for 60 years of the late Rita Kelly (nee Kearney). Loving father of William, Murray (Cathy), Brendan (Nancy) and former daughter-in-law Diane Vezina (Jack Romanow). Cherished Grandfather to Jason (Doris), Robin (Michael Scharf), Christopher (Selena), Stephanie, Matthew and Madison. Great-Grandfather to Liam, Veronica, Shannon and Grace and Step Great-Grandfather to Tyler. George will also be fondly remembered by his two remaining sisters, Joan (Noel Herron) and Anne (Gary Laverdure), his brothers and sisters-in-law, many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many other friends and family. George played a significant role in the Youth Emergency Services (Y.E.S.) Halfway Home in Montreal throughout the 1960s. He was always extremely involved in the St. Brendan Parish community where he was ordained a Catholic Deacon on October 29, 1986. He and Rita moved to Ottawa in 1992. Friends are invited to visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue (at Richmond Road), Ottawa Tuesday, December 7 from 2 to4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, December 8 at St. Monica Roman Catholic Church, 2080 Merivale Road, Ottawa for a service at 7 p.m., vigil at 7:30 p.m. followed by a visitation from 8 to 10 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Monica Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, December 9 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception at the Monterey Inn, 2259 Prince of Wales Drive. Interment will take place at St. Patrick's Fallowfield in the spring.
