Funeral service for Mr. Gene Davis, 68, of Elgin, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, in Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, Columbia, S.C. Officiating will be the Rev. Bill Robertson. Committal services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Graceland East Memorial Park, Simpsonville, S.C., officiated by Pastor Bill Bynum. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital, Greenville, S.C.Mr. Davis died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004. Born in Spartanburg County, S.C., he was a son of the late Frank and Georgia Davis. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Mr. Davis was an avid golfer for many years and a member of the Senior Men's Group at White Pines Golf Course in Camden, S.C. Gene was a Mason and Shriner. He loved his family, his dog, Samantha, and his garden.Survivors include his wife, Gwen Stansbury Davis of Elgin; daughter, Debra Lynn Newman of Cross Anchor, S.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Randy Wells of Beaufort, S.C.; three grandchildren, Jessica and Zeke Wells, Richard Ryan Bell.
