George Humphrey of Olds, Alberta, formerly of Drumheller and Delia, passed away on February 7, 2017, at the age of 91. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Elsie; their daughter, Elaine Stilling and her children: Stacey & Curtis, Danny & Laurie, and Dennis & Allene; and grandchildren Joshua & Danielle, Sydney & Sara, Rhys & Cameron; 3 sons, Ivan & Bev Humphrey and their sons: Geoff & Janeil, Todd & Charla and grandchildren Kyle & Paige, Rhealee, Karson & Kolby; Don & Donna Humphrey and their children: Julie & Lyle, Joanna & Joe, Christopher, Steven & Jaryn, Joshua & Brittaney, and grandchildren Madison & Zachary, Xander, Brynn & Aylwen, Jaxon, Parker & Gibson; and Kevin & Wanda Humphrey and their daughter Shannon. George was born on the farm southwest of Delia, Alberta, the seventh in a family of ten children; four sisters and five brothers. Surviving George are his two sisters, Leora and Lillian.George married Elsie Tario in 1946, and worked in the coal mine at Nacmine until 1949, when they moved to Delia. He worked in the garage and blacksmith shop, before starting his farming career in 1952. In 1996, George & Elsie retired to Drumheller. They were active members of the Pioneer Trail Centre, participating in numerous activities; cards, bingo, puzzling, pool, and bowling; pretty well anything that was going on at the centre, they were a part of. They made many friends during their retirement years in Drumheller. Due to health reasons, they moved to Sunrise Village in Olds, Alberta, in 2014. Grandpa enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren in all of their activities; that was the highlight of his days.Donations in George''s memory may be made to Tom Baker Cancer Centre, or Heart and Stroke Foundation.A celebration of George''s life will be held at Evergreen Centre, 5237 – 52 Street, Olds, AB at 1:30 pm March 2, 2017.
