NASHUA - Florence L. (Noonan) Lyons, 92, a former Haverhill resident who had been active in church and civic organizations, died Monday evening, Oct. 27, at the Greenbriar Healthcare Terrace in Nashua. She was the wife of William P. T. Lyons, who died May 25, 1990.She was born in Boston on Feb. 23, 1911, daughter of John M. and Florence M. H. (Walker) Noonan. She was raised in Haverhill and graduated from Haverhill High School in 1927.Mrs. Lyons was an administrative assistant with the city of Haverhill auditor's office for many years, and had also worked for the Internal Revenue Service, Ornstein Shoe and Hamel Leather. She was an active member of St. John the Baptist Parish in Haverhill, and she and her husband had been one of the first parishioners of the church when it was built.Mrs. Lyons was a charter member of the Parish Council, the Ladies Sodality, and the Lay Group of the church. She was also, a member of the Haverhill Democratic Committee, she had worked the polls at the Crowell School in Haverhill for many years. She was also an active member of the Ladies of Merrimack College.Her survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, William T. Lyons and his wife Shirley of Ocean Grove, N.J.; John F. Lyons and his wife Patricia of Nashua, David M. Lyons and his wife Elizabeth of Hill City, S. D., and Gerard J. Lyons and his wife Beverly of Chelmsford; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Scott of Hamilton and Rosalie Knutkowski of Derry, N.H.; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
