Kane, Evelyn G.Sept. 29, 1912 - May 7, 2008Evelyn G. Kane, 95, Sarasota, formerly of Gainesville, Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton, died May 7, 2008.Private services will be in Pompano Beach. A memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. June 4 in the chapel at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sarasota. Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include a daughter, MaryAnn Linzmayer of Sarasota; a son, James G. of Fort Lauderdale; sisters Mary Pray of La Jolla, Calif., and Alberta Mahoney of Becket, Mass.; and a brother, Jack Mahoney of Valley Stream, Long Island, New York.Also survived by grandchildren Laura Kane Horton of Crawfordville, Fla., Juliet Kane Welch of Sarasota, John V. Linzmayer of Melrose, Fla., Gray Kane of Oxford, Miss., Brownie Poteat of Mobile, Ala., and Connor Kane of Fort Lauderdale; and two great-grandchildren, Allison M. Welch and Kevin V. Welch, both of Sarasota.As her friends and family can attest, Evelyn had a terrific sense of humor, was an avid sports fan and a voracious reader.
