Ret. Heavy Equipment Contractor WAYNESBORO, Ga.- Mr. Emory Joseph "Bull" Williams, 79, of Oak Lane, Waynesboro died Thursday, May 6, 2004, at Medical College of Georgia Hospital, Augusta. Mr. Williams was born in Jefferson County, Ga., and spent 51 years in Burke County. Mr. Williams was a retired heavy equipment contractor (bulldozer). He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was a Methodist and a member of the First United Methodist Church, Waynesboro for 51 years. He was a member of the Brison-Coleman Sunday class. He was a faithful and devoted Democrat and former member of the Burke County Democratic Committee. He is survived by his wife, of 54 years, Elaine Bates Williams of Waynesboro. Also survived by daughter, Monica Williams Mahoney(Michael) Martinez, Ga.; son, Joseph B. "Jody" Williams, Waynesboro; three sisters, Myrtis W. Thigpen, Greenwood, S.C.; Cleo W. Grissett, Gibson, Ga.; Emolyn W. Norton, Brandon, Miss., and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday May 8, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church, Waynesboro with Dr. David Carter and Rev. Henry Erwin officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Ray Brown, Frank Griffin, Ernest Johnson, Porter Cohen, Lon Hankerson, Bob Bolton, Preston Lewis, Jr. and Luther Robinson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Brinson-Coleman Sunday school class.
