Elsie-Laura-Frances Patterson, spouse of Jim Patterson, died at 92 years old. Please consult the obituary here:
PATTERSON, Elsie Laura Frances In her 92nd year, on June 15, 2006, Elsie peacefully went home to be with her Lord. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Jim, in 1995. Elsie was born in Winnipeg in September, 1914 and married Jim Patterson in that city in 1937. She kept the home fires burning through the war years, raised her two daughters and taught them by example how to keep going when things were tough. Elsie and Jim retired to British Columbia in 1962. They enjoyed their time travelling the province by car and walking long distances every day. Elsie was a champion bowler and enjoyed reading, doing crosswords and watching sports on T.V. The last ten years of her life, Elsie traveled extensively with Barb and Carole to all the family events and occasions. She was a much-loved matriarch to the whole family who will miss her deeply but who have a wealth of memories and funny anecdotes to keep Elsie alive in their hearts. Elsie is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Barbara Gorsline, Carole and George Payson, by her grandchildren Michelle (Marc) Duimel, Craig (Jeannie) Gorsline and Lori-Anne (Jeff) Huebner and by her four precious great-grandchildren Jadeyn and Carlynn Duimel and Ben and Joel Huebner. She is also survived by her youngest sister, Gladys Chamberlain and nieces in Winnipeg. The family were overwhelmed with the love, care and support given over the past 14 months by every member of the staff of Mount St. Mary Hospital. Elsie, Barb and Carole especially enjoyed the fun and joy of life in Arbutus House where everyone opened their hearts to our little "Mumma". These "angels on earth " allowed her to live her last year with dignity, surrounded by love and laughter, and to die in peace in her own home. A celebration of Elsie's life will be held at First Memorial, 1155 Fort St, at 1 pm on Thursday, June 22, 2006. Donations in Elsie's name may be made to Mount St. Mary Foundation, 861 Fairfield Road, Victoria, RC. V8V 5A9. 259862
