UntitledELSIE GODWIN ARMSTRONG1929-2009Mrs. Elsie Godwin Armstrong, 79, of Pace, died Wednesday, February 11, 2009. Mrs. Armstrong was born July 26, 1929 in Daphne, AL and had resided here since 1962. She was a retired rural letter carrier, a past Worthy Matron of the Milton Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, and a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Pace.Mrs. Armstrong is preceded in death by her husband Ed and her son Jimmy; parents, Elmer and Maebell Fleming Godwin; and two brothers, Edward and Floyd Godwin.Survivors include two daughters, Debora and her husband Ed Hawkes of Centennial, CO, Susan Thompson of Pace, 8 grandchildren, Ashley, James, Christie, Buck, Kristi, Patrick, Tauni and Chris, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews and loyal friends.Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 13, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Immanuel Baptist Church with the Reverend Joe Gwyn and Clain Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in the Memory Park Cemetery.NATIONAL CREMATION AND BURIAL SOCIETY is in charge of arrangements.Pallbearers will be Donnie Sowell, Ed Nettles, Keith English, Chris Hawkes, Terry Godwin, and James Armstrong. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Order of the Eastern Star and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class.Flowers are welcome, however if a memorial contribution is preferred, the family suggests donations to the Immanuel Baptist Church, 4187 Hwy 90, Pace, FL 32571 or Joyce Goldenberg Hospice Residence, 10075 Hillview Road, Pensacola, FL 32514The family will receive family and friends on Friday, February 13, at Immanuel Baptist Church from 10 to 11 a.m.
