SMITH Elizabeth Eleanor Shoults Smith was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan Canada on October 17th, 1905, as the first white child born in a Native Indian Canadian community; however she was raised in Great Falls, Montana. She obtained her R.N. degree from the University of California at San Francisco, after which she spent the next four years working in the field of hospital nursing, which ended when she married her husband, Hubert L. Smith, Sr. She had been a resident of Houston since 1942, and for many years had been an active member of the Blue Bird Circle, as well as an Equity member of the Briar Club, and a devout member of St. John The Divine Church, until the last eight years of progressive illness caused her to become homebound. She expired at The Forum Healthcare Center on July 3rd, 2002. She is Survived By Son, Hubert L. Smith M.D., and wife Leanne; Daughter, Barbara Permenter and husband Ken; Granddaughter Tracey McDaniel and husband David; Great-granddaughter Taylor McDaniel; Great-grandson Cody McDaniel; Step Grandson Clovis Newby and wife Kathy; Step Granddaughter Patti Newby; and Step Great Grandsons Kyle and Bobby Newby. Her beloved husband, Hubert L. Smith, Sr; sisters, Marion and Kathryn; and her mother Eleanor Shoults preceded Elizabeth in death. Friends and Family are welcomed to attend visitation on Tuesday July 9th, 2002, at Pat H.
