SHAFTSBURY - Elizabeth Ann "Liz" (Harwood) King, 78, died June 20, 2012, at Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center. Born at home in Shaftsbury Aug. 9, 1933, she was the daughter of Rupert and Mabel (Montgomery) Harwood. She was a 1951 graduate of North Bennington High School. On May 29, 1958, she married James D. King in Manchester. Mrs. King was employed at various municipal and state offices in the Bennington area. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington. She enjoyed crafts, gardening and reading. Survivors include her husband of Shaftsbury; four children, Linda Paquin, Lisa McGuire, both of Shaftsbury, Terry King of Bennington and Toni King of Hampden, Maine; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. King was predeceased by three brothers, Victor, Raymond and Arthur Harwood. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 25, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington and followed by a reception at the McGuire residence, 333 Cleveland Ave., Shaftsbury. At her request, there will be no calling hours. Burial will be in South Shaftsbury Cemetery.
